These are some of the tried and true resources that I or those close to me have used to navigate our parenting journey. I've added notes along the way. There is no 'one size fits all' parenting method. There is no magic bullet or formula to getting it right. Pray, research, discern, implement, evaluate, repeat.
I came home full-time with my girls when they were 3.5 years old. After over a decade in public schools, I just felt that one of my kiddos would fly below the radar and never be challenged and then the other was such a quick thinker and fast mover, she would more than likely spend more time in the corner, than learning.
It was also clear that my girls had developmental challenges, but it was too early to diagnose. I've never cared about diagnoses; only about equipping them with the tools they needed to be successful.
This was the first neurodevelopmental program I used with my girls. It combined OT, PT, academic content, as well as neurodevelopmental skills. I used it for 3 years to catch up one of my children with developmental goals and I taught it in spanish to my advanced kiddo to keep her brain challenged.
I still listen consistently to this podcast. It is great for challenging kiddos with ADD / ADHD / strong personalities.
Psychological Demand Avoidant came on our radar in 2023. It is a great lens to shift focus onto what is most important for your child and what is happening behind the behavior. At Peace Parents does a great job preparing families for the paradigm shift of using a PDA lens.
